Eisenlager - Unter Der Autobahn (2016)
by Hortus Conclusus Records
Within the long single track of "Unter der Autobahn", Midnightradio11 plunges the listener into a thematic audio experience, based on the idea of being left forsaken inside a complex and distorted virtual environment. Much like finding yourself in a cross between a Salvador Dali painting and a Luis Buñuel film, this visual cue is deftly conveyed on the sonic landscape of the album. From the opening footsteps that immediately invoke the sense of being alone within Midnightradio11's construct, you are thrust into an engaging world of coarse and grating electronics, driven by equally coarse and powerful noisy beats. In perfectly timed waves, you’re treated to combinations of clean and soothing electronic lines, rhythmic pulsations, tranquil breathes and absolute walls of concrete noise. The artist pacing keeps tension high throughout the entire album; even on the quieter flows ghostly blows supply a touch of mental and sci-fi terror pulling you into a perfectly well-constructed labyrinthic environment.
If Disambiguation isn’t the gothic ambient album of the summer, it’s certainly the ideal soundtrack for sunbathing alone on a float at an abandoned community pool. Bandcamp Album of the Day Jul 12, 2018
